Included below is the solution to a few common problems associated with this series of HP LaserJet printers. Please give us a call if you need further assistance. We are happy to answer your questions.

Printer Jams Repeatedly When Feeding from Tray 2 or 3

Problem: My printer routinely signals a jam when I try to print from Tray 2 or 3. Often, if the paper is jamming from Tray 3 I have to open the lower right access door to clear the misfed paper.

Solution: Several things could account for what you describe. First, check the paper path carefully for an obstruction of some kind, usually a scrap of paper.

Second, check the condition of the feed/separation rollers and pickup rollers for the trays. If they don't have much texture on the surface, they probably need to be replaced.

Last, the paper movement from Trays 2 and 3 is controlled by an arrangement of rollers, sensors, and clutches. One or more of these assemblies may need some attention.

Ghost Images From Previous Page

Problem: Images and text from a previously printed page keep appearing in the background of printouts. The ghost images usually show up through the middle section of a letter-size document.

Solution: The fusing assembly is the likely culprit. The heated fuser roller is probably worn and has a buildup of toner on the surface. This toner leaves an image on the pages as they pass through the fusing assembly. Cleaning the roller will usually only result in a temporary relief from the "ghosting" problem. We recommend replacement of the roller assembly.
